Bohemia Game Jam 2026: That's a Wrap on the First Edition
What happens when you bring together eight of the best university teams in the Czech Republic, lock them in a Prague hotel for 42 hours, give them a theme, and tell them to build a game? You get the very first Bohemia Game Jam – a nationwide university game jam championship. And it was better than anyone hoped.

From April 24 - 26, the Holiday Inn in Pankrác turned into a creative pressure cooker fueled by coffee, late-night brainstorms, and a whole lot of passion for games. We were proud to stand behind the event and even prouder of what came out of it.
What is Bohemia Game Jam?
Bohemia Game Jam is an exclusive 42-hour game development marathon that brings together handpicked university students from across the Czech Republic. Think of it as a national championship for aspiring game developers, where the country's top university teams go head-to-head in a weekend of pure creative crunch. The event is held under the wing of Bohemia Interactive, one of Central Europe's most prominent game studios, with the goal of supporting the next generation of Czech developers, designers, and creative minds.
The format is simple but brutal: eight university teams, 42 hours, one theme revealed the day before kickoff, and a single mission: turn an idea into a working prototype.
The Theme
This year, teams had to wrap their heads around one deceptively simple prompt: "What could possibly go wrong?" The theme opened the door to chaos, comedy, suspense, and everything in between. And the teams absolutely ran with it.
The Teams
Eight teams from some of the best universities in the Czech Republic took on the challenge: FAMU Prague, CTU FIT, CTU FEE, Charles University, Tomas Bata University in Zlín, VSB Ostrava, BUT Brno, and the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen.
Each team had their own dedicated mentor by their side throughout the weekend, sharing know-how, helping debug those 3 a.m. problems, and pushing the projects further.
The Jury
Judging the entries was no small task. The jury, made up of experienced developers from Bohemia Interactive, brought decades of combined game dev expertise to the table. Leading the panel as Head Judge was Ivan Buchta. He was joined by Tomáš Přibyl, Zdeněk Kvasnica, Marián Kučera, Petr Víšek, Šimon Hečko, Michal Žák, Martin Jurčík, and Lukáš Karel. Huge thanks to all of them for the time, feedback, and energy they put into evaluating every project.
The Quick Facts
The championship ran from April 24 - 26 at the Holiday Inn on Na Pankráci 1684/15 in Prague 4. Teams had a strict 42-hour time limit to build their game, with no restrictions on the development platform (free assets were fair game). The setup was BYOD, so everyone brought their own gear and made themselves at home for the weekend.
And the Winners Are...
After 42 hours of coding, designing, debating, and barely sleeping, it was finally time to find out who took the top spots in the game jam.
- 1st place: Charles University
- 2nd place: Tomas Bata University in Zlín
- 3rd place: CTU FIT
- Raiffeisen Special Award: Tomas Bata University in Zlín
Massive congratulations to the winners and to every team that participated. The quality, creativity, and ambition we saw across all eight projects blew us away.
More Than a Competition
Bohemia Game Jam was never just about who builds the best game. It's about the community: the shared all-nighters, the random hallway conversations that turn into game mechanics, the mentor sessions that crack open a new idea, the friendships that form when you're all in the trenches together. Participants walked away with real-world dev experience, fresh inspiration, and connections that could shape their future careers in the games industry. That's what Bohemia Game Jam is really about.

To everyone who took part, mentored, judged, supported, or cheered from the sidelines: thank you. The championship is set, the bar is high, and we can't wait to see what future game jams will bring.
See you at the next one.
