Bohemia Recap - September 2022

Outlanders speak up, Arma 3 turns 9, and DayZ is such a tease

Autumn is underway and the halls of Bohemia are buzzing with activity. Last month alone we dropped a bevy of dev streams and trailers, blog posts, previews and community content. We also brought in thousands of new players thanks to a highly successful sale on Steam.

There’s plenty to get to this time around, so sit back, relax, and crack open your favorite beverage. It’s time once again for the Bohemia Recap!

Vigor

Our Vigor Survey continued in September. This gave Outlanders the opportunity to voice their opinions on the past season, as well as the future. Participants were rewarded later that month.

We had a couple of nice Community Corners and streams, including Dev Stream #70 which focused on weapon tweaks and our plans for weapon balancing, a topic our players were very interested in.

In other news, PlayStation Outlanders were able to grab some Packs and Crowns with a discount, our highly anticipated Double XP Weekend ran from September 9th to the 12th, and our trailer for Vigor Chronicles: Deliverance dropped on September 14th. The update also enjoyed an exclusive preview from our Partners.

Marketing Specialist Tony Dimosthenous was kind enough to provide an interview for our latest installment of Meet the Vigor Team. Not a big reader? Then check out our TikTok.

We ended the month on a high note with the release of Vigor Chronicles: Deliverance on September 21st. There were a couple of issues, but we managed to clean those up. You can learn more about our latest release by reading our blog, watching our Dev Diary, or taking a peek Behind the Trailer.

DayZ

September was the month of teasers for the DayZ community, all of which led up to the experimental release of update 1.19 – The Secrets of Livonia. The hype began with a tease in Polish morse code, which was followed by us teasing a new rifle. Then, for #InternationalProgrammersDay, we provide a tease featuring embedded code.

We also teased a new eyepatch, landmark, and one of three Plate carrier variants, and showcased our first ever drivable military vehicle, along with new vehicle simulations (care of the Enfusion engine) on TikTok.

Our biggest tease for update 1.19:

Update 1.19 is our biggest update since Livonia was released back in 2019 and the buzz is nearly palpable. In fact, our experimental release was so popular that we had to deploy additional servers to accommodate the interest. There are huge changes to the central economy this time around, as well as numerous map additions, which is why we announced that the update will bring with it a complete map and character wipe. If you’d like to learn more about everything update 1.19 has to offer, you can do so with this informative blog post. Patch notes for PC and Xbox are also available. And don’t forget about the stable release, which we plan to drop on October 18th.

Finally, our community continues to thrive and come up with tons of fantastic content. You can enjoy some of our favorites by reading the latest Community Spotlight.

Arma Reforger

In September, we released Arma Reforger Experimental - a separate Steam client application that maintains a build of experimental content and features for owners of Arma Reforger. It’s also accompanied by a changelog where you can find all the fixes and changes.

COMRAD #4 highlights some of the best work our great community has put into Arma Reforger.

Arma Dev Squad, an internal team of devs, is already playing with the community. You can look forward to them playing again soon, maybe with you!

Arma Reforger and Vigor joined forces in the new Vigor update, Vigor Chronicles: Deliverance. Watch the trailer here.

Arma 3

September was a major month for Arma 3!

The Bohemia Interactive Publisher Sale, held from September 8th to the 22nd, brought in thousands of new players to the Arma Community! If you are part of this new wave of reinforcements and are wondering where to get started, we recommend playing the Showcase scenarios and Prologue campaign to begin. From there, you can play the East Wind campaign, or, if multiplayer is more your style, you can use the server browser to find both Official and Community run servers with many different game modes. If you are thinking of joining a unit, you can check out Arma 3 Units, Bohemia Interactive Forums, Steam Discussions, and the FindAUnit Subreddit to see what’s available. There is definitely a unit for every player, from casual to hardcore realism!

We launched our 9th Anniversary celebrations on September 12th! With a number of showcases and retrospectives - including an Arma 3 Trailer Showcase, Best of Update Changelog Entries Thread, and the start of our new #LegendaryAssets series, we gave the community a look back on the last nine years. We also introduced Arma Invaders, a mini game playable directly in the game's main menu. Did you manage to finish the fight and unlock the achievement? If not, don't worry - you will have other chances to do so during upcoming Steam Sale events!

During this celebration, we also released Community Radar (COMRAD) #31. If you haven't had a chance to see this latest issue, it is a splendidtm reminder of how active and involved our dedicated player and modding community is even after all this time.

We also took the opportunity this month to publish all of the Community Play Session Livestreams hosted by Community Manager LeClair so far this year onto YouTube. You can watch them in a dedicated playlist here.

Finally, on September 27th, Arma 3 Creator DLC: Western Sahara received a content update which adds new vehicles, weapons, equipment, missions, and more! You can learn about the update and what awaits you among the dunes of Sefrou-Ramal here.

We look forward to Year Ten and everything it will bring for Arma 3!

Behind the scenes

Here are some photos from our visit to the Military Museum in Lešany, where our Arma team gathered inspiration from old and modern military equipment.

The museum is located near a former artillery barracks, which has been part of the Military Technical Museum since 1996. The museum is currently home to over 700 historical tanks, cannons, motorcycles, armored/cargo/passenger military vehicles, rockets, communications and engineering equipment, and logistical material dating from 1890 to the present day.

Community Spotlight

Following the release of the new Arma 3 Creator DLC: Western Sahara 1.1, our Community Managers LeClair and Nillers teamed up with the Rotators Collective and special community guests to introduce the new Alchemist game mode.

Make sure to follow the Arma Platform Twitch channel, where we host regular streams with you, our community, hosted by our Community Managers. If you missed the stream, you can always watch the VOD on the Arma Platform YouTube channel.

Meet the Pet Bohemians

Name: Kylo aka Gugas Diandra

Species: Australian Shepherd

Age: (almost) 3 years old

Team: Vigor Marketing

Favorite food: Beef with cooked beetroot

Toy: SPARKA (IKEA)

Random fact: Some Aussies have cut tails, but Kylo doesn't. He does have a special one, however, that curls on top of his back. His tail’s nickname is "Bobina", which is a common Czech name for ‘guinea pig’. We’re sure you can guess why.
