Bohemia Recap - May 2025

DayZ

Something Classified

Come what may, May marks an interesting month for us. Many on the DayZ Team are diligently working on something exciting—and something classified. Here’s a teaser for you!

We can’t reveal what this is just yet, but keep an eye on your favorite community leaders and creators!

1.28 Experimental

Beyond this hush-hush project, we’ve also been hard at work preparing the 1.28 Update, launching June 3rd. While a typical experimental phase lasts 3–4 weeks, this time we took 6 weeks to observe, gather feedback, and iterate. This included a second experimental update (featuring a new firearm) and dedicated "Many Cars" servers, where players could test the revamped vehicle simulation to their heart’s content.

A huge thank you for your patience and participation—we hope you’re as excited as we are! Here’s what’s coming in 1.28:

Firearm fans, take note: We’ve also made extensive audio improvements to guns. Check out the changes here with this video.

Community Spotlight

This month’s Community Spotlight delivers another banger—showcasing incredible content, mods, and maps. To keep things fresh, we are planning to add two new segments for the coming months:

Clip of the Month: Highlighting short, high-energy DayZ moments. Let’s face it: some clips (like chaotic firefights or encounters with fellow weirdos) are best enjoyed short and sweet.

Community Voice: Your platform to speak up! Share thoughts on a game topic you’re passionate about or write an anonymous note to a long-lost teammate. Grab your pens, writers! It’s your turn to shine. Stay tuned on our socials for more info.

Arma Reforger

Mods on PlayStation 5

Arma Reforger achieved a major milestone this month with the release of Update 1.4, which brought long-awaited mod support to the game on PlayStation 5!

We are overwhelmed by the positive feedback from our PS5 players about their first forays into the world of Arma Reforger mods, and we are loving all the community content we are seeing on socials, as well as streaming and video platforms. We are also aware of many community concerns being voiced on a variety of issues and perceived issues affecting players. We released a statement to address some of the most common concerns, and followed up by answering numerous community members directly. We have since released a minor update to address some of these issues - especially the mod storage error some were facing. Players were receiving an error message that they do not have enough space to download mods on their console, when, in fact, there was space available. You can view Update 1.4.0.29's changelog here.

Overall, we would like to strongly emphasize that any issues to be addressed are our responsibility, and we are very grateful to Sony for their continuous support, cooperation, and partnership!

To celebrate the launch of mods on PlayStation 5, Senior Community Manager Nillers hosted a Tiny Wars play session. Tiny Wars is a modded game mode developed by Bohemia Interactive that has you taking on the role of a green or red plastic soldier as you battle over a living room! You can view the VOD of the event from Niller's perspective here.

Over Two Million Copies Sold

On April 30th, we announced that Arma Reforger has sold over two million copies since release! What started as the first foray into the Enfusion engine has become a cross-platform phenomenon, bringing the military simulator sandbox experience to a wider audience than ever before. We are truly humbled by the overwhelming response of our community, and we will all keep working to make Arma Reforger the best it can be!

Make Arma Not War 2025

We are excited by all of the current submissions to our Make Arma Not War 2025 modding competition! However, we have noticed that some potential entries have not been tagged correctly on the Reforger Workshop, and are therefore currently ineligible for the competition. We released a guide explaining how to be sure your entry is properly tagged and submitted for consideration before the August deadline. You can read this guide here on the Arma Reforger website.

The Australian non-profit genU's GAMER Program uses video games, board games, and RPGs to support people on their mental health journey. As part of our Don't Fight Alone initiative, we're supporting them to help create a safe, affirming space where people can connect, express themselves, and build skills through play. Now, genU is using #ArmaReforger as a platform for clients to level up in life. Read more about their GAMER Program and why they're using Arma Reforger in a special Don't Fight alone guest article here.

This past month, we also held Arma Reforger Boot Camp #12 - Artificial Intelligence, which was hosted by Senior Technical Designer Petr "Zeli" Ondráček and Technical Designer Karolína Komárková. You can watch an edited version on YouTube here. With the release of Boot Camp #12, our primary series of Boot Camps are completed - however, we have released a survey for community members to provide feedback on the series, and we may be considering a few more topics to cover in the future!

We have been featuring previous winners of the Make Arma Not War 2015 modding competition on our socials accounts for the event's 10th anniversary. We have also kicked off a Jury Profile series that will give some insight into the six different jury members for this year's iteration of MANW. The first profile to be featured was for the one and only Klamacz, Arma Reforger's Project Lead!

Community Radar (COMRAD)

On May 2nd, we released the 18th issue of the Arma Reforger Community Radar - also known as COMRAD. This issue, like all others, showcases more fantastic community content for everyone to enjoy. You can read COMRAD #18 here.

We have also continued to feature community content with our new Arma Reforger Community Spotlight series. We love seeing everything our talented and creative community gets up to!

Arma 3

Arma 3 recently participated in the Steam Wargames Fest, and we welcomed numerous new players to our ranks! If any of these new recruits are reading this and are wondering where to get started (or if you’re a long-time player looking to brush up on your knowledge), we recommend playing the Showcase scenarios and Prologue campaign first. From there, you can play the East Wind campaign, or, if multiplayer is more your style, you can use the server browser to find both official and community run servers with a number of different game modes. If you are thinking of joining a unit, you can check out Arma 3 Units, Steam Discussions, and the FindAUnit Subreddit to see what’s out there. There is definitely a unit for every player, from casual to hardcore realism!

May 8th was the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, and third party studio Heavy Ordnance Works - developers of Arma 3 Creator DLC: Spearhead 1944, marked the occasion with a heartfelt post. As historians and enthusiasts first and foremost, HOW has made strives to create an authentic Second World War experience with their CDLC as a tribute to those who "pressed through hedgerows and hellfire alike." This is something they will continue to do through Spearhead Extended (SPEX) on the Arma 3 Steam Workshop.

Arma 3 Update 2.20 is coming soon! This update will bring performance optimizations, Steam Game Recording, UH-80 / AH-99 stub wings, illumination flares, and miscellaneous fixes and tweaks. We have published a Release Candidate for our community members to test and provide us with feedback ahead of the Update's release. You can learn more about this Release Candidate, and how to participate, here.

Speaking of Updates, Arma 3 Creator DLC: Global Mobilization - Cold War Germany has released Update 1.6! This update delivers new vehicles, weapons, equipment, objects, and features, as well as various fixes and improvements. The full changelog for Update 1.6 is available here. For an in-depth introduction to the update's new content, you can read the latest OPREP blog post by developer Vertexmacht.

We have continued to feature Arma 3 community content with our long-running Community Spotlight series on our socials. Keep an eye out for the next issue of the Arma 3 Community Radar (COMRAD) and maybe another Community Profile soon! We are also working on a new article that will feature community-made gamemodes and scenarios that we hope to release this Summer for everyone to check out!

Vigor

We kicked off May by celebrating the start of summer with discounts on Flower Crowns in the Featured Store .

After the release of Vigor Meltdown, we asked the community about their thoughts on the newly-added Action Figures with a dedicated Question Time and we also asked about the new Cosmetic Crate that was added in Vigor Meltdown.

Norwegian Constitution Day is a big deal - since the game is set in post-apocalyptic Norway, so we decided to bring the celebrations in the Outlands with discounts on selected cosmetics!

While we work hard on the next Season of Vigor, we decided to drop a little teaser of a much-anticipated feature - Batch Crafting!

Our PlayStation Outlanders received a treat in the form of discounts across several Crown Packs and Premium Packs as we take part in Sony's Days of Play Sale !

And last but not least, we continued with our regular in-game events (Double XP days, Booster Apocalypse and Map Spotlights) through the whole month of May. We now set our sights on the release of the next Season on Vigor which should be coming out soon and will bring some turmoil in the Outlands...
