Bohemia Recap – September 2023

September saw Bohemia Interactive throw another one of its legendary parties, this time on a boat that sailed along the soothing waters of the Vltava River. Meanwhile, the rest of the month was full of activity. Vigor announced the winner of its Fan Art Competition, while Ylands offered players the opportunity to win their own pet shark. DayZ made quite the impression at IFA Berlin and Silica released yet another exciting update. And let us not forget the Armaverse, which saw Arma Reforger offer new enhancements and optimizations, while Arma 3 held a very special live stream celebrating its 10th anniversary. Read all about it and so much more in the latest edition of the Bohemia Recap!

Vigor

We had a special edition of Community Corner for La Tomatina, and announced the winner of our Fan Art Competition.

We held Double XP Days in order to give our community the opportunity to gain some valuable XP. We also prepared a special Dev Stream, where we had the pleasure to chat with Dmitry and Mirek for the very first time!

Currently, the dev team is finishing Season 17 - Vigor Chronicles: Malediction. More info on that will be announced in October on our social media.

And finally - we're getting into the spooky season, and have prepared some truly great things for Spooktober! Stay tuned.

Ylands

Here’s a fun livestream we did with Ylands developer Anna, which was hosted on a player’s channel:

In other news, we continued sharing beautiful screenshots created by our community, held a competition which offered players the chance to win their very own shark, and had a blast at Bohemia Interactive’s awesome boat party, which was full of Ylands vibes.

Rounding out the month, we talked to our senior sound designer Jan Knot in this interesting and informative Dev Diary.

DayZ

We made our mark at IFA Berlin from Sept. 1-6. Here are a few pictures from our time there.

DayZ also got a tech boost from AMD. This exciting collaboration resulted in DayZ being equipped with state-of-the-art machines, which will certainly amp up the game’s development.

Speaking of the game, we unveiled a tantalizing teaser for our major update of the year. That would be update 1.23, which you can get a sneak peek of here.

Halloween is lurking around the corner. So are some thrilling new additions to DayZ. Get ready to dive into our spooktacular season.

Arma Reforger

Our latest major update offered new, immersive, and environmental enhancements, as well as a slew of stability improvements and optimizations. The more somber and meditative trailer below shows a different side of the Arma Platform, and properly showcases its lush in-game environments.

We successfully held three Public Dev Playtests where devs and the community battled it out on Arland in jam-packed 64-player sessions. The atmosphere was thrilling, competitive, and most of all – fun. We're currently planning more playtests for October so stay tuned.

Last but not least, we kicked off our Reforger RFI Q&A series in style with none other than Klamacz! He tackled some hard questions from the community and the response was overwhelmingly positive. We've already got several more episodes in the works, and we can't wait to get them out there.

Arma 3

September saw the release of update 2.14, as well as a very special 10th anniversary stream!

Update 2.14 offers new assets, achievements, and scripting optimizations. Check out our thrilling trailer, which is an in-game remake of one of Arma 3’s earliest videos, and features the brand new T-100X Futura tank.

Our tenth anniversary live stream was hosted by Arma’s Senior Community Manager Niles George and featured Marek Spanel, Ivan Buchta, Joris-Jan van 't Land, Jay Crowe, and the voice of Captain Miller himself - Michael Pitthan. It was a trip down memory lane that we and the community thoroughly enjoyed. In case you missed it, you can watch the entire stream below:

Silica

The Strategy Fest Sale was a huge success and wound up attracting a lot of new players. We hope they’ll enjoy their time in the scorching deserts of Baltarus.

Another month is in the books, which means a new Silica Synopsis is now available. If you’d like to know what’s been happening in the world of Silica, make sure you have a look. Another way to stay on top of Silica news is by subscribing to our newsletter. And if you have a few minutes, make sure to check out this video from Lycan MB about alien air units.

Update 0.7.36 landed on Baltarus and brought the two remaining alien air units—Firebug and Defiler—into Arena mode. The update also added controller support for all units, as well as an improved free-fly camera. You can read all about it in our changelog.

In closing, we’d like to ask you to prepare for takeoff because an air units update is coming soon!

Behind the Scenes

Allow us to share a few more photos from behind the scenes of our Bohemian Boat Party, which took place on the Vltava river in the center of Prague. And during the cruise, we also got to see the view of our Prague offices (second photo).
